Welcome to the Charles Fahrer Estate

We are winemakers in Orschwiller in the center of Alsace. Our family domain of 10 hectares extends over 40 parcels which border the famous Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg.

Thierry FAHRER, the current winemaker of the estate, produces the seven grape varieties, the Crémants d’Alsace, as well as the Grand Cru Praelatenberg appellation: “colline des prélats” which bears the imprint of the winegrowing monks who, more than a thousand years ago, developed its slopes of granitic and gneissic origin.   In the exceptional years, he embellishes its cellar with Late Harvest and “Selections de Grains Nobles”.

In 2020 we started our conversion to organic viticulture because we are sensitive to the preservation of our soils and terroirs (grassing and working the soil), the protection of the ecosystem and the respect of health.

The vineyards surrounding the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg benefit from an exceptional amount of sunshine and a mosaic of soils (colluvium, sandy-loam), clay, granite…

These assets favour the development of many varieties and the blossoming of aromas, which results in the production of elegant, well-balanced and round wines.

Thierry, through the reflection of his work, highlights the lineage with the creation of unique vintages in honor of the FAHRER women: Pinot Gris Cuvée Jeanne and Pinot Noir Rosé Cuvée Christiane.
